But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.

                                        — 1 Peter 3:15

We affirm the following statement of fundamental beliefs:

WebBeliefs_AliceBible.jpgThe Bible: All scripture is breathed-out by God and is fully inspired by the Holy Spirit. The Bible is truth, and requires our submission to it in all areas of our lives. The sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments are the infallible Word of God, the authority in all matters of which it speaks.

God: There is one God, He is the sovereign Creator, Ruler and Sustainer over all that we see, are and experience. God is perfect and is eternally existent in three distinct persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Web_SunriseOak.jpgGod the Father: An infinite, personal Spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love who concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men. The Father hears and answers prayer, and saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ the Son.

God the Son, Jesus, the Christ: Jesus is the living Word - the complete expression of God come in human form, by His miraculous birth of a virgin. Jesus is God! He died on the cross, His blood covers our sins. This last act, he did to show that He's our High Priest and the only Mediator of our faith. He was the last sacrifice ever needed for us to have aWebBeliefs_BenIsrael.jpg right relationship with God. After three days Jesus arose bodily from His grave and ascended to heaven where He sits at the right hand of God. Now, we eagerly await Jesus' visible and bodily return to this earth in glory.

God the Holy Spirit: The Holy Spirit is a gift promised to us by God, who would came to glorify Jesus. He guides us into all truth and applies the salvation of Jesus' sacrifice in our hearts and lives. Before we know Jesus personally, the Holy Spirit convicts us of sin and draws us to Him. When we become a Christian, He dwells in our hearts and gives us new life, offering empowerment for ministry and gifts so that we might serve each other.

WebBeliefs_NathanBaptism2.jpgSalvation: Because of the sin of Adam and Eve, we're born wanting to sin like they did. We are eternally separated from God and must be saved. The only hope that we have is through the free gift of God's grace - faith in the shed blood of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. As we put our faith in Jesus, God "credits righteousness" to our account. This gives us the right to become sons of God. Only those who receive Jesus Christ, those who are born of the Spirit, will spend eternity with God. We know because we are Christians that we will be resurrected to this new life when Jesus returns. We also understand the Bible to teach that those who do not know Jesus will be judged and enter eternal punishment, forever separated from God.

The Church: We call ourselves a Fellowship because we recognize that the true church is made up of all who are saved by faith in Jesus Christ. We are united in the body of Christ WebBeliefs_EastGate.jpg(the church) with Jesus as the head. Jesus is the head over the church. The church finds its expression (imperfectly) in congrega- tions, like Countryside, devoted to teaching the Word of God, the fellowship, the breaking of bread and to prayer. We await the certain and sure return of Jesus for the perfecting of the church. We eagerly await His return to take the church to Heaven. Until He returns, membership in our Fellowship is extended to anyone who has received Jesus as Savior, and is in full agreement with our Statement of Faith.
